Looking for a Northern Ireland wedding photographer who will give you beautiful photographs without making your wedding feel like one long photoshoot?

I’m Caroline McAlister, the photographer behind Caroline Smyth Photography. Based in Larne, County Antrim, I have been photographing weddings throughout Northern Ireland since 2013.

There are many photographers who can create lovely images. But your wedding day needs more than that. You need someone who understands people, notices when you need reassurance and knows when to offer gentle guidance or quietly step back and let the moment happen.

My photography is natural, relaxed and timeless, combining candid documentary coverage with gently guided portraits. You don’t need to be confident in front of the camera or know how to pose. If one of your first thoughts is, “I’m worried about having a double chin,” you are absolutely not alone. I use flattering light and angles, along with my tried and tested technique for minimising double chins, while making sure the photographs still feel completely like you.

From our first conversations, I will help you think through timings, family dynamics and the things that matter most to you. On the day, I will be a calm presence and an extra pair of eyes, helping things flow, calming nerves, having a bit of craic and quietly sorting the little things you shouldn’t have to worry about.

I deliberately limit the number of weddings each year so I can give every couple the time, care and attention their wedding deserves, from planning through to after your wedding.

I want you to have time to breathe, enjoy your drinks reception, spend time with your guests and take in the day you worked so hard to plan. Some of my favourite feedback has nothing to do with the photographs. It is when couples tell me they felt relaxed, looked after and actually got to enjoy their wedding.

Your final gallery will include the beautiful portraits, but it will also show the laughter, reactions, hugs, moments you didn’t even know happened and the people who made your wedding yours. I don’t want to make your day look the way I think a wedding should look. I want it to look exactly like how yours felt.
